After a rough start to our trip, im so happy to have arrived in Mexico without an issue (grateful). While still in Berlin, we had arrived at the airport at 4.20am and found out that all flights after ours, starting from 5am till 11am, had been cancelled! STRIKE!! The horror no traveller wishes to hear about! Especially when you have non refundable bookings! They warned us that our luggage might not board the flight with us!
I was devastated!!! :(
BUT something inside me felt safe! I felt like it would all be alright. Not to mention, Gerald was mega calm and unfazed (as usual, i wish i could be more like him). Just as we walked up to the check-in counter, the conveyor belts started working (a sign that employees had started to sort our luggage). After a lot of chaos at the counters, an hour later they announced that our luggage had been successfully loaded! YES!!! Woohooo! I felt bad for those whose flights were grounded but i was so relieved for us!
After 1hr flight to Dusseldorf and another 10hrs flight to Cancun, we had arrived, with our luggage!! Yippee! That feeling of joy!! :D
We hopped straight onto a bus and headed down to Playa Del Carmen! A less touristic version of Cancun! We spent 3 days in Playa Del Carmen to unwind, be near the restaurants and the city, recover from jet lag before heading off to Tulum for 10 days; where the true beauty of nature awaits!! :)
From local food to local beer, to just chilling out and zoning out for a while. Here are some of our impressions of Playa Del Carmen!
